The Center for Social Inclusion (CSI) strives to achieve a fair distribution of the benefits and burdens of public policy to dismantle structural racism, which creates and perpetuates racially identifiable poverty and social exclusion. CSI was founded to link research and advocacy to build capacity in communities of color and to forge links with others to increase our understanding of structural racism, how it operates and to develop long-term strategies to dismantle it. CSI partners with communities of color and other allies to create strategies and build policy reform models to end racial disparity and promote equal opportunity. With its partners, CSI conducts applied research, translates it, teaches communities, informs the public, convenes stakeholders, nurtures multiracial alliances and supports advocacy strategies.
CSI operates as a project of the Tides Center, whose mission is to provide administrative and infrastructure support to new and emerging charitable organizations who share its mission of striving for positive social change.
Dream Fund Project
The Dream Fund provides support to the Center for Social Inclusion, along with the Equal Justice Society, for continued leadership and facilitation of meetings, teleconferences, and convenings of the ‘Race Conscious Work Group', a group of national partners working to advance racial and gender equity. As a facilitator, CSI aims to gather the expertise of race-conscious and gender conscious thought leaders to share their insights with advocates working to preserve and expand affirmative action and other efforts towards social inclusion.
